Mechanical Leg Support

There are many injuries that cause

muscle atrophy.

The loss of partial leg muscle strength

can be a result of a stroke, car accident,

work accident, coma, autoimmune

disease or drugs. This restricts them

from being able to walk and sometimes

just stand up and significantly affects

their day to day life.

Medical Engineering

The essence of the project is to enable those who have

weakness in their quadriceps and subsequent inability to

walk or decrease in range of motion to overcome these

deficits. During the process, we realized the need to achieve

certain desired effects, and through planning and designing,

we succeeded.

The user

places the

device on

his leg

(seated)

The user

attaches the

handle to the

device

The user

presses down

on the handle

as he tries to

stand up (while

leaning

forward)

The force of the

springs help to

lift the user into

a standing

position

The user is now

standing and

removes the

handle

The user walks

as desired

The user uses

gravity to sit until

he decides he

wants to stand

again
